R.T Ponting? No, R.T McArdle

With Punter now officially retired from all forms of cricket, Australia needs another R.T to stand up in the absence. Ryan McArdle believes he is that man.

"Yeah, I'm definitely ready for a big season. It's been building for a while. I want success for myself and for my team at all costs. Like my hero James Hird says, whatever it takes."

Ryan has had a illustrious career at the Dam. In recent years though, his leadership off the field has really come to the fore. "Love the brothers I've made at the club. Love a chat with them. Passing on my knowledge to the younger blokes is something I really take pride in now as well."

The Beaver pups share the sentiment.
"Patience is an important part of cricket," rising WDCA superstar Matthew Hoy said, "and speaking with Ryan is something that teaches me great patience."

Young gun batting-master Jayden Stokie also shared his thoughts. "Fryzie? Advice? All I ever hear from him is "Ra Ra Ra Essedon, Ra Ra Ra Usman, Ra Ra Ra Damo Martyn. I don't get much from that. "

What does Ryan want most in March apart from a white-picket fence with Carls?
"I'd love to make it to the last dance. Not the Gal I'm talking about (laughing). The last Sunday with a bit of silver wear around my neck and a little diamond on the Mrs finger. I'll be happy.
